Thomas & Betts (T&B), a member of the ABB Group, announced yesterday, January 14th, that National Sales Manager Liz OGrady is among the winners of The Manufacturing Institute’s STEP Awards. The Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Manufactures (NAM), will recognize OGrady with the “Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Award,” which honors women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory-floor to the C suite.
OGrady is known for her support on behalf of women in the electrical industry. Her achievements over the course of her 30-year career include pioneering the idea of the Women in Industry Group for female members of The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), which earned her the 2010 NAED Trailblazer Award. OGrady also received the 2012 NAED Associate Service Award in recognition of her involvement in the NAED Women in Industry Forum and other leadership roles that support the goals of the organization.
Her career began in 1978 with Wesco Distribution in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she held positions in both internal and external sales. She joined IDEAL Industries in 1986 as an area sales manager and was promoted several times to ultimately become a national account manager in 1997. OGrady joined Lamson & Sessions, Carlon Division, in 2005 as a key account manager and was promoted to national sales manager shortly thereafter. After Thomas & Betts acquired Lamson & Sessions in 2007, OGrady took over responsibility for maintaining the relationship with Graybar, one of T&B’s distributor partners.
All recipients will be recognized at an awards reception in Washington, D.C. on February 6.
