New Board Member Joins International Paper
Memphis-based International Paper Co. has acquired a new board member as of Oct. 1.
Ilene S. Gordon, 58, joins chairman and CEO John Faraci, David J. Bronczek, Ahmet C. Dorduncu, Stacey J. Mobley, Joan E. Spero, John L. Townsend, John F. Turner, William G. Walter, and J. Steven Whisler on the now 10-member board.
Gordon is chairman, president and CEO of Westchester, Illinois-based Ingredion Inc. The company (formerly known as Corn Products International) converts corn, tapioca, wheat, potatoes, and other raw materials into ingredients for the food, beverage, brewing, and pharmaceutical industries as well as numerous industrial sectors. It had $6.2 billion in net sales last year.
Gordon has presided over Ingredion since 2009. Before that she served as president and CEO of Rio Tinto's Alcan Packaging and in various roles at Alcan and Teneco Inc. She has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's degree in management from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
International Paper has about 70,000 employees in more than 24 countries worldwide. It's net sales for 2011 were $26 billion.
