MBQ Wins Gold Medal at CRMA

MBQ: Inside Memphis Business was honored last night by the City and Regional Magazine Association (CRMA), receiving the Gold Medal Award as best magazine in its category. The awards were announced at the CRMA annual conference at Caesar's Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

MBQ competed in the Best Ancillary Publication I category. MBQ is an ancillary publication of Memphis magazine, itself a finalist and multiple winner of the CRMA award for General Excellence.

Other finalists for the award with MBQ were Charlotte Wedding and Charlotte Home + Garden (both ancillaries of Charlotte Magazine), Martha's Vineyard Home & Garden (Martha's Vineyard Magazine), and Westchester Home (Westchester magazine).

This is the second time MBQ has won the prestigious CRMA Gold Medal (also claiming the 2007 prize).

According to CRMA, finalists were chosen by more than 90 judges, including representatives from publications such as Better Homes and Gardens, Bon Appétit, Budget Travel, ESPN The Magazine, Esquire, Food Network Magazine, GQ, Men’s Journal, Men’s Health, National Geographic, Outside, People, Popular Science, Rolling Stone, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated, Taste of Home, The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, and Whole Living as well as journalism professors from the Missouri School of Journalism. 

The competition is open to members of CRMA and other city and regional magazines throughout North America that qualify. The national competition has been in existence for 27 years and has been coordinated by the University of Missouri School of Journalism on behalf of CRMA for the past 16 years.
