Carpet Tech Inc., Changes Name to Artisent Floors

Today is the grand opening and official launch of Artisent Floors, previously Carpet Tech Inc., complete with a new location, warehouse, showroom, and new services for customers. The Memphis-based, family-run company that opened its doors in 1985 as a carpet cleaning business has made some major changes over the years by shifting from cleaning carpets to selling and installation for mainly multi-family apartment complexes and building/construction work. School board leader David A. Pickler of Shelby County Schools was named the 66th President of the National School Boards Association (NSBA), a not-for-profit organization representing state associations of school boards and their more than 90,000 local school board members throughout the U.S., at the association’s Annual Conference that took place April 13-15 in San Diego. Anne M. Byrne of New York’s Nanuet Union Free School District was elected President-elect and John D. The Memphis-based company founded in 1968 by Edward Porter was purchased in 200 by Judge George H. Brown, Jr. in hopes of making it a family-run business venture. Since acquiring ownership, the business has had 2000 percent growth, gaining new clients within the Mid-South and expanding to new markets with the help of George’s children, Hank Brown and Laurita Jackson. With such substantial growth in such a short time, the name “Memphis Chemical” didn't quite seem to accurately represent the company. Boyle Investment Company, Memphis real estate development, management, and leasing firm, announced big changes recently in leadership, with Paul Boyle promoted to President, replacing Henry Morgan, who served as Boyle’s President from 1985 to 2012, and will now serve as Co-Chairman with Bayard Boyle, Jr. As president, Paul, representing the third generation of the family, will now oversee all company operations. Leadership Memphis Pairs with Healthy Memphis Common Table to Fight Obesity in Shelby County

Over 500 Leadership Memphis alumni, corporate sponsors, and community partners enjoyed their holiday party on December 4th. The event, held at the Mercedes-Benz of Memphis Showroom, had the usual trappings of a traditional company party, but the menu was decidedly unique. Leadership Memphis recently became a participant in the Healthy Memphis Common Table’s Million Calorie Reduction Match (MCRM) project, and the menu was a direct result of the pairing. Catered by food trucks featuring a selection of healthy options, guests were able to make more informed choices about food by viewing the caloric value of each item being served.   This Sunday, November 18, the March of Dimes of Tennessee presents their Memphis Signature Chefs Auction sponsored by Farmers Insurance Group and FedEx. The event, held at the Memphis Hilton, gives attendees the opportunity to sample specialties from over 20 chefs, restaurants and caterers in Tennessee. Chefs and restaurants participating also provided a package for the live auction to take place during the reception. Proceeds from the evening benefit the March of Dimes nonprofit, the leading nonprofit in pregnancy and baby health.
